- glassblowing while wearing high heels
- working on a glass piece that was SO LARGE that the spiral wrap was applied directly from a large LADLE!

Tom Patti

Glassblower.Info - Tony Patti - Tom Patti - Paula Patti
(Tony Patti - Tom Patti - Paula Patti)

Some people have asked if I am related to the famous glassblower Tom Pattti. The answer is "no", but do understand from an exchange of emails that his father, and my grandfather both come from the area of the world around Sicily and the Southernmost part of Italy. So, maybe we have a very distant common ancestor, I dont know.

The funniest situation occurred when I rented studio time at Corning Museum of Glass the day after Thanksgiving 2002. Stephanie, who assisted me, told me that when the person scheduling the studio wrote down my name on their schedule board as "T. Patti" that others *assumed* it was the famous Tom Patti, rather than me

According to this Network Solutions (Verisign) report, there were 105 Million domain names world-wide August 2006,
and 60% of them have live (non-parked) websites = 63 Million websites.

This puts www.glassblower.info in the top 1% - 2% of all websites in the entire world!
This is confirmed by a November 1, 2006 report on www.cnn.com which reports that netcraft.com now shows
100 Million websites with domain names and content on them!
What was particularly interesting about the www.cnn.com article was this section, which I know is true of www.glassblower.info and its over 160,000 visitors!

Bond and belong

"What we've seen is people finding interesting new ways to use the Web to showcase their information and their expertise; particularly in niches in all kinds of subjects where it's really just opened the door to new uses of the Web," said Miller.

Whether it is sharing photographs on Flickr.com, showing off an amateur video on YouTube, or looking for a mate on Match.com, Web sites have also become a way to bond and belong.

"The history of humanity is the history of being part of a group, having a group mentality, and the Internet makes a whole other set of those groups possible," said Grinter. "And they don't have to be physically proximate to you, you can create content for people who are physically distant," she said.
