so this is a rather specialized technique, which is documented in the following series of photographs.
You can spot a reverse axis (reverse axes) glass piece by two spirals on the front and back of the piece,
as contrasted withe one spiral in the bottom (center of a plate).

Conceptually, the glass piece above was created via the following steps:

Step 1 of 5 for Reverse Axis Glasblowing: Pull Cane
Step 2 of 5 for Reverse Axis Glasblowing: Pickup 7" cane segments on a glass bubble
Step 3 of 5 for Reverse Axis Glasblowing: Get all wall thicknesses even (a round bubble)
Step 4 of 5 for Reverse Axis Glasblowing: Poke a hole in the TOP of the piece, and attach a second blowpipe
Step 5 of 5 for Reverse Axis Glasblowing: After sealing off the first hole, create the final glass piece
