Out of approximately 8 Billion web pages indexed by google,
the glassblowing term "reverse axis" is only mentioned 77 times,
so this is a rather specialized technique, which is documented in the following series of photographs.

You can spot a reverse axis (reverse axes) glass piece by two spirals on the front and back of the piece,
as contrasted withe one spiral in the bottom (center of a plate).
Art of Fire offers reverse axis glass art pieces, in a variety of colors.

Conceptually, the glass piece above was created via the following steps:

  1. Pull Cane
  2. Pickup 7" cane segments on a glass bubble
  3. Get all wall thicknesses even (a round bubble)
  4. Poke a hole in the TOP of the piece, and attach a second blowpipe
  5. After sealing off the first hole, create the final glass piece
