Wow! It has been an exciting month for us at East Falls Glassworks.
There's a
lot we'd like to communicate to the glassblowing and glass-loving community.
* 'Extremely' Exciting News - As some of you (anyone in Philadelphia) may
know, the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" show has just finished taping an
episode in Northeast Philly. We were invited to make some work and are
optimistic that we won't end up 'on the cutting room floor'. The show sent
a designer and camera-crew to the shop and got about an hour of footage of
us making work. The episode is scheduled to air on April 30th as a 2-hour
special (ABC 7:00 - 9:00 PM). Attached to this email is our official press
release.
We see this as a great opportunity for not only our shop, but also to
promote
general awareness of glassblowing and the existence of small studios
like us.
This is a national show with a very large audience (> 10 million viewers).
* New York Show - East Falls Glassworks is taking a road-trip and will
be participating in the "Crafts on Columbus" show in New York City on April
29th and 30th. If you are in the area, check us out. The show is on
Columbus Avenue from 77th to 81st St.
* Open House / Community Day - Another day of free glassblowing and
hanging out
at the shop is planned for Saturday, May 6th. This should be an great
day to
meet the public since we are promoting it in our "Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition"
publicity materials; we expect a good turnout.
* Class Schedule - We are now offering classes on Saturday morning and
Sunday
afternoon.
Classes starting in May:
'Advanced Drinking Vessels' (8 Weeks) - Monday 7:00-10:00 PM
'Introduction to Glassblowing' (4 Weeks) - Thursday 7:00 - 10:00 PM
'Introduction to Glassblowing' (4 Weeks) - Saturday 9:00 AM - Noon
'Glass Casting' (4 Weeks) - Sunday 1:00 - 4:00 PM
Check the website (www.eastfallsglass.com) for complete schedule and
descriptions
of each class. As of right now, we still have openings for these classes.
Upcoming Glass Experience Days:
You can create your own paperweight, ornament or vase. These two hour
sessions
will give you an opportunity to try working with hot glass. Reserve
your spot
ASAP.
