<p class="byline">By Deirdre O’Reilly</p>

<p class="newsbody">“You can’t get any better than Harry Potter,”
claimed Sally Ledbetter a family member of Jerpoint Glass, the
Kilkenny-based glassblowing studio which made its big screen debut in
the eagerly awaited Harry Potter Movie, 'Harry Potter and the Order of
the Phoenix.'
</p>
<p class="newsbody">The specially commissioned Jerpoint
wine-glasses feature for over a minute in a scene where Harry’s friends
raise their glasses to toast the young wizard for an act of bravery
carried out during the Christmas break from Hogwarts.
</p>
<p class="newsbody">Ms Ledbetter said she was thrilled that their glass
featured in the new movie.
</p>
<p class="newsbody">"I am a huge Harry Potter fan. I have read all
the books and have ordered my copy of the last book and I'm very
excited about this. </p>
<p class="newsbody">“We knew the glass was going to be in the movie. We
thought it would be
on display in a cabinet and so were delighted when we saw it being used
in a toast.”
</p>
<p class="newsbody">Jerpoint Glass is a small family-run
glassblowing company in Stoneyford, where a team of skilled
glassblowers create distinctive and beautiful glassware for the home
including wineglasses, candleholders, bowls, jugs and vases. The
Kilkenny company make glass for a production company in London who hire
props to the film production companies. </p>
<p class="newsbody">The glass has featured in BBC productions before,
including the period
dramas 'Jane Eyre' and 'Charles Dickens', but this is the biggest coup
so far for Jerpoint.
</p>
<p class="newsbody">“Jerpoint glass has an inherent antique feel
to it and so it fits perfectly into the old-worlde style of the Harry
Potter movies," Sally explained.
</p>
<p class="newsbody">The full range of Jerpoint Glass is available
in stores nationwide, however the Harry Potter Glass is only available
at Jerpoint Glass Studio in County Kilkenny. Prices start from €20. The
Harry Potter Trumpet Glass retails at €40.<br>
