MEDIA -- Visual art will be highlighted at the Arts Stroll in the
borough from 6-9 p.m. this Saturday.<br>
<br>
Sponsored by the Media Arts Council's (M.A.C.) the 2nd Saturday Arts
Stroll will be feature 18 artists with works including illustration,
live model painting, pottery, jewelry, watercolors and photography.<br>
<br>
Other activities include face painting, storytelling and puppetry.
Featured music includes ukulele rock, kirtan, jazz guitar, folk, blues,
roots and classical keyboard.<br>
<br>
<b>This month's featured artist is Pat
Ackerman of West Chester. She has been fascinated with glass ever since
she was a child. As a teenager vacationing with her family on Cape
Cod,
she would stop at a local factory and watch the craftsmen work molten
glass into all sorts of shimmering, delicate vessels. She was intrigued
by the many colors, intricate shapes and most of all with the graceful,
complicated craft that brought liquid glass to life. In 1991, she took
the plunge and enrolled in a weekend workshop at a local studio. The
art of glassblowing has been a passion for Ackerman ever since.</b><br>
<br>
Second Saturday will have 46 businesses and organizations on and around
State Street hosting this free arts event. Visitors can use the Second
Saturday map to find participating businesses with music and art. This
event happens on the Second Saturday of every month.<br>
