Volume One is composed of three Issues: Numbers 1, 2, and 3.
There are a total of four DS/HD 3.5" diskettes included with Volume One (including a free diskette containing two cryptosystems I published prior to Volume One).
Their text and diskette contents are detailed in the following sections.
Featured Algorithm: | "One-Time-Pad Cryptosystems" |
---|---|
Diskette: | DS/HD 3.5" Diskette |
Programs: | 2,158 lines of Ada in program ONE-TIME 2,782 lines of PASCAL in program TWO-TIME |
Number of pages in this issue: | 31 |
Date of Publication: | May 1988 |
It seems appropriate that the premiere issue should cover the only provably secure algorithm -- the One-Time-Pad. In fact, this issue contains TWO complete implementations: the first is in Ada (using the Janus / Ada version 2.0.1 compiler) and the second is in Pascal (using the Turbo Pascal version 4.0 compiler). Both cryptosystems support one-time-pads up to 32 Megabytes! We also review one other crypto program, two books, and one International Association.

Featured Algorithm: | "Cooper's Cryptosystems" |
---|---|
Diskette: | DS/HD 3.5" Diskette |
Programs: | 6,355 lines of Pascal in programs COOPER, Hilltime,& Freq |
Number of pages in this issue: | 39 |
Date of Publication: | August 1988 |
Volume 1 Number 2 includes a significant enhancement of my public domain Galois Field (GF) Cryptosystem. This program implements Cooper's algorithm (which is described in the text). This cryptosystem supports key matrices up to 125,000 bits per key! We also discuss the Project Management of a cryptosystem development using the InstaPlan package, compare a PC to a Cray computer, and review one other journal and one book.

Featured Algorithm: | "Baconian Cryptosystems" |
---|---|
Diskette: | DS/HD 3.5" Diskette |
Programs: | 5,100 lines of Assembler in program BACON
4,025 lines of Pascal in programs RANDTEST, EGGS, CYCLOID, LISSAJOUS, MANDEL, and STIRWRITE |
Number of pages in this issue: | 59 |
Date of Publication: | December 1988 |
This issue implements Baconian cryptosystems in BOTH Assembler and Pascal. The graphic contained at the top of the home page is Baconian. Did you notice that the masthead contains a secret message? (Hint: 8-bit ASCII used for the plaintext). This issue also contains extensive discussion of the statistical testing of Random Number Generators (RNGs). The RANDTEST program performs up to 22 statistical tests on a stream of allegedly random numbers. We also discuss matrix inversions, simultaneous linear equations, and the Gauss-Jordan algorithm as they relate to cryptology. Also included is the MANDEL program which draws the complete Mandelbrot Fractal on an EGA/VGA display. We also review one other journal.
