I am a member of Contemporary Glass Philadelphia (CGP) and recommend it
as an organization.

The February issue of /The Gather/, the CGP newsletter, describes the
Sunday March 22 event where Jon Clark will he the guest artist and speaker.

The event should be very good, and you may want to consider attending.
Details are below.

*CGP SPRING PROGRAM - MARCH 22, 2009*

Please join us on Sunday March 22 when our guest artist and speaker will
be Jon Clark. We will honor Jon on his retirement from Temple
University, where he established and then served as chair of the Glass
Program at the Tyler School of Art, on the campus in Elkins Park, PA
from 1973 - 2009.

Professor Clark received his BS from the University of Wisconsin in
River Falls in 1970, and his MA from the Royal College of Art in London
in 1972. He introduced the glass program when he came to Tyler in 1973.
He has given numerous workshops and lectures at art schools and Glass
Centers in America. England and Japan. His work has been shown in
museums and galleries around the US and in Japan. China. England, and
Australia. Jon has received NEA fellowships, Pennsylvania Arts Grants,
and research grants from Temple University.

In addition to being an accomplished artist, Jon has mentored and
trained other leading artists. Among them are
Beth Lipman, Robin Grebe, and current Tyler Instructor, Dan Cutrone.

Jon is married to artist/teacher/jewelry designer Patti Dougherty, who
is well known for her glass bead creations. They are parents of Jamie
and reside in Elkins Park.

Jon will discuss his years and achievements at Tyler and we will have
the opportunity to meet the new chair of the department, Sharyn O'Mara.
In the near future CGP will have the opportunity to tour the new Tyler
building, on the Main Campus of Temple University.

Join us for this interesting program and light refreshments, hosted by
collectors Michael and Beverly Budin at their home in Wynnewood, Sunday
afternoon, March 22, from 2 - 4 PM. For directions to the Budins, please
