Hotshop Director


Third Degree Glass Factory is looking for an experienced furnace glassblower to manage hotshop activities and benefit from the advantage of a superior workshop to use as a creative studio.
Primary responsibilities include studio maintenance, managing our team of instructors, and production of the studio’s line of blown ornaments.

In addition, is the right of first refusal to all custom commissioned hotshop glass. We are seeing a continued increase in requests for custom glass work from replacement lamp shades to large custom installation pieces.  This portion of the position has the greatest income potential and accounts for 80% of the exiting employee's income.

  

*	Studio technician and management components are a salaried position requiring 8-10 hours per week
*	Studio ornament production is paid by the piece
*	Custom commission work is on a case-by-case basis
*	Our in-house gallery sells over 200K in glass per year and takes only a 25% commission

  

Access to the hotshop to produce your work is readily available and is offered at the lowest possible cost to ensure your success as an artist. Exiting employee spends 80% of his work week actively completing custom commission requests and making his own glass in the hotshop.  An existing pool of experienced assistants are available to assist you in making your work.

This is a customizable position that will be filled by the person that best fills the many, and varying, needs of our growing company. Pay will be based on experience level. Base salary for the 8-12 hours of studio manager:10-15K
