As I wrote on my web page at
<http://www.glassblower.info/prince-ruperts-drop-and-glass-stress.html>

This is one of those WOW moments, when you see your first Prince Rupert's
Drop.

It is a small bit of molten glass dropped into a bucket of cold water.

What happens next is quite amazing

When I wrote that, I did not expect a couple years later to be able to see
exactly what happens at 130,000 frames per second (fps) video,

with the help of a $100,000 Vision Research Phantom v1610 video camera on
YouTube!!!

What you can see is that the fracture starts at the tail and travels down
the piece, this is 154 seconds into the video.

The video then goes on to derive the Failure Front (explosion) at ONE MILE
PER SECOND (equivalent to 3,600 mph!)
