Glass Artists to Face Off in Pumpkin Death Match October 16

Glass blowing artists from Astral Glass Studio, New Haven, will face off
against those from Third Degree Glass Factory, St. Louis, during Third
Degree's 13th anniversary open house.

 

The free event will be held Friday, October 16, 2015, from 6 to 10 p.m., at
Third Degree Glass Factory, 5200 Delmar Blvd., St. Louis.

 

The fiery festivities kick off with glassblowing demonstrations, followed by
a "Pumpkin Death Match."

 

Visitors will see what happens to popcorn in a hot blown bowl and watch
artists blow the Great Pumpkin.

 

The audience will decide which glass studio creates the best piece and which
piece gets "the tank." The losing piece will be dropped in a tank, where it
will explode due to thermal shock.

 

The Wise Brothers will perform original tunes and cover songs.

 

At 8 p.m., guests can watch artists blow a glass bowl. At 9 p.m., the
artists will work together to blow the Great Pumpkin, which will be raffled
off.

 

East Gallery will present its new photography installation "Gargoyles,
Cemeteries and Spooky Spaces" by Sue Rakers and St. Louis Fire Technicians
will perform sunset fire spinning.
