I first met Jim Asselstine during an ACGA (American Cut Glass Association) meeting at Dorflinger Glass Museum, 6 years ago.
He is a very interesting person, among other activities, he was a past Commissioner of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
I have no doubt that this will be a fascinating talk in NYC.
Enjoy,
Tony Patti

"The Dorflinger Glass Works and Its Restoration"
James Asselstine
The Art Glass Forum | New York will launch its 2015/2016 season on October 6 with a lecture on the Dorflinger Glass Works. Famous for the manufacture of some of the finest American cut glass of the Brilliant Period, its products graced many of the country’s finest tables, including those of several White House administrations.
James Asselstine, trustee of the Dorflinger Glass Museum, will discuss “Restoring the Dorflinger Glass Works in White Mills, Pennsylvania and Creating a New Regional Industrial Heritage Museum.” He will describe how Christian Dorflinger transformed a sleepy northeast Pennsylvania hamlet into a bustling industrial center over a period from 1850 to 1920.
For the past eight years, following a long career in government and finance services, Mr. Asselstine has been chairman of the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary, which owns and operates the Dorflinger Museum.
The Art Glass Forum | New York meets the first Tuesday of each month (from October through May) at St. Michael’s Church. Annual membership dues range from $25 (for young professionals) to $90 (for a household). Attendance on a per meeting basis is $15 per person. We welcome both new members and visitors.
Our featured speaker’s presentation begins at 7:00 PM and is preceded by a wine and cheese reception at 6:30. After the meeting, many attendees enjoy dinner with friends and fellow club members in one of the many restaurants in the neighborhood.

The Church was designed and decorated by Louis C. Tiffany between 1895 and 1925 and is one of the only extant Tiffany interiors in the New York Metropolitan area. Though we meet in one of the meeting rooms, we regularly arrange tours of the sanctuary to view the wonderful windows, lamps and mosaics by Tiffany Studios.
